Tips for getting fit before your wedding day

Fleur de Lis Fitness is a wellness solution founded by trainer + nutritionist Claire Yanta-O'Mahoney that offers virtual fitness and nutrition coaching to women worldwide. Claire helps clients (brides-to-be!) look and feel their best with programs that work so that healthy bodies are created for their big day and beyond!


We had the chance to sit down with her and picked her brain about how to get wedding-ready so you're feeling your best for your big day.

VC: Hello Claire, thanks for taking the time to hang out with us!

CY-O: You're welcome, thanks so much for having me!

VC: It's great to have you. Can you share a few of the basics: a little about you and how you got started with fitness:

CY-O: Well I was born and raised in St. Louis and have always been active physically. When I was younger I fell in love with dancing and did it competitively for years. I discovered the gym in high school and the rest was history. 

VC: That's so great that you've been active from a young age, it sounds like it really set you up for success. What made you want to turn it into a business?

CY-O: I really love helping people find their motivation and pursue their goals. I decided to dedicate my life to helping people make positive transformations with their lives because when we feel more confident physically and emotionally, everyone and everything benefits. We travel and have moved a lot - many of my clients are similar - so working with fitness and nutrition clients online ensures we stay on track no matter where we are!


VC: You sound like you're living the dream! What's one of your top tips to share with people who might be in the beginning of their fitness journey?

CY-O: I always encourage my clients to take a holistic approach!  Make sure you're incorporating strength, cardio, flexibility, and regenerative training into your routine so you'll have a more balanced bod both inside and out!  You deserve to feel confident from head to toe.

VC: Love that! You are so inspiring and we love that you've dedicated your life's work to helping people look and feel their best. 

Most of our readers are soon-to-be brides, do you have any special words of wisdom for them?
CY-O: Absolutely- start early!  The sooner you begin your wellness journey before the big day, the less stress and pressure you'll feel, PLUS there'll be a greater chance you'll continue those healthier habits after you become a Mrs. πŸ™‚  Remember, extreme measures never last and they can derail your progress!

Also, ditch the scale!  You'll already be focusing on so many details and numbers during wedding planning, the last thing you need is to feel concerned about your weight.  You're SO much more than that silly number!  Gauge your progress on how you feel, how your clothes fit, and your mood.  You'll feel so much happier....trust me! β€οΈ
