TikTok for Business - How I got 200K views + 40K likes + 20 paying clients in 15 seconds

So let me start off by saying, TikTok is so new I know it’s really hard for businesses/entrepreneurs to grasp how to use it. I get it. Up until about a month ago I was scratching my head as GaryVee was pounding the matter to smithereens to the point of annoyance. Like anything else that’s new and foreign, it’s confusing. A lot of businesses (myself included) feel like it’s “not my target demographic”. Just like Facebook, Instagram and every other social media platform - Tik Tok is taking the world by storm while most of us scratch our heads and ignore it until we can’t deny it anymore.

When Facebook came out we said the same thing. ”That’s for college kids.”.  When Instagram came out - Ditto. Don’t let history repeat itself. Now is the best time to get on before people really catch on to the magic.

And, oddly enough, adults are actually the primary users of TikTok now. Here are the age groups of people actually using TikTok. It may surprise you:

So here are some tips to remember to get you started on the right foot when using TikTok.

  1. It’s raw/authentic

This is not Instagram. The curated, perfect feed does not read as “authentic” and it doesn’t work well on this platform. It’s about raw, entertaining authenticity. You don’t have to worry about production quality in TikTok land. As long as they can see you and hear you well - you’re good.

2. Funny / Entertaining

Entertaining videos work no matter what the message is.

3. Straight to the point (no fluff)

You’ve only got a few seconds to get your point across. So you have to pack a punch. No wasting time on intros or niceties. Info. Bam. That’s it.

I suggest you jump in and look around to get acquainted with what people are doing on TikTok to get a feel for the platform. It’s definitely silly but fun and I know THAT is the part that doesn’t seem like it will work for your business BUT it will. Being real and approachable is the new “professional”.

So - if you don’t know where to start, here are a few easy steps to get your TikTok page up and running (and how I created my first viral video).

A) Pick a pain point (or 2 or 3)

We want to make it really obvious that we know the struggle… Trying to ignore that there is a painfully or that there are struggles in whatever business you have does it make any sense. Pick one out. Make light of it. It’s a give-in that

B) Do not take yourself too seriously. This should go without saying. We are on TikTok for god’s sake.

C) Plan out and write down the entire rundown. You literally have seconds to pull this off so it’s pretty quick. Planning it out will make it a lot easier.

D) Just like IG - use hashtags to your advantage

In essence… the point of this video was understanding the pain point in existence for people planning their wedding. One video is not going to get the whole point across so make sure that your other content is you showing that you are the solution to their problem.

My video was all about the struggles of wedding planning… And my other videos show the process, tips, and other funny pain points that come with planning.

The main point is - you can do it. Use this platform for what it is! Don’t let this gold-rush pass you by.
